Lisa is a community connector with over 25 years of experience in outreach and engagement. She follows principles of person-centred planning and offers a heart-centred approach to engagement.
Her philosophy is that in order to be effective, we must truly understand the specific needs of those we serve. This process involves active listening and understanding the barriers and issues faced by individuals, to reach the right people, at the right time, in the right way.
Lisa Bryson brings to Authentic Engagement Consulting over twenty-five years of experience working with adults with disabilities, children, youth, and families as a government social worker, youth worker, and special education assistant in schools, combined with knowledge of business building, contracts, bookkeeping and administration. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Honours), with a focus on Social Psychology & Interpersonal Communication. Additionally, she has a wide range of professional training, including: facilitation, mediation and conflict resolution, best practices in working with children and youth with special needs, policy and legislative review, and cultural sensitivity.
Lisa brings personal wisdom from experience living with invisible disabilities and chronic health issues. Practice areas include supporting children, youth and families with challenges; disabilities, mental health, and gender; family violence, restitution and education. She also brings to the partnership extensive experience in writing, editing, and research, as well as in strategic business partnerships. Personal strengths also include warmth, non-judgement, skillful rapport building and hospitality.
Lisa is also comfortable with inter-personal creative processes, including chaos and order. While working with various government ministries, Lisa gained valuable skills advocating within the system in order to amplify the voices of those on the margins.
